In City of Heroes, your travel abilities were simply a means to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. There were four types of travel techniques; super speed, super jump, teleport, and flight. Flight and teleport had a variant that allowed the player to take the entire group with them. As you leveled, the range and speed of your travel techniques increased until most players could traverse a large zone in under a minute. With the ability to grapple objects and other players, the Marvel Universe Online allows new dynamics to travel techniques at each level.

Super Speed:

Hero

50% Speed of Sound (383mph) max (effects; wind compression, wall running)

1st attack technique – Rapid punch. This ability allows the player to select a single target for a series of rapid punches, causing DoT, smashing damage. Increasing your strength, increases the damage index, but lowers the DoT. At max strength, the attack is a single, high-speed punch leaving the player weakened but able to escape.

2nd attach technique – Multi punch. This ability allows the player to hit multiple targets in rapid secession, increasing your strength, increases the damage, but lowers the number of targets you can hit. At max strength, the attack is a single, high-speed punch leaving the player weakened but able to escape.

Support technique – Whip Lash. This ability allows the player to rapidly remove an injured teammate off the battle field. If used against an enemy, the target will be left temporarily stunned.

Super Speed

Super-Hero

110% Speed of Sound (843mph) max (effects; wind compression, wall running, sonic boom)

3rd attack technique – Sonic push. This ability allows the player to select a target and move at the target at supersonic speed, stopping inches in front of the target. The rapid expansion of air causes the target to fly back violently in the opposite direction and is temporarily stunned. Increasing your strength, increases the knockback distance and intensity of the stun.

4th attach technique – Sonic rush. This ability allow the player run at supersonic speed through a group of targets knocking them back violently in the opposite direction leaving them temporarily stunned. Increasing your strength increases the distance of the knockback and stun, but lowers the distance of the rush (fewer targets effected).

Support technique – Wind blur. This ability allow the player to run at high speed around a group of targets generating enough wind to reduce the accuracy of all targets in the circle.

Super Speed

Paragon

Mach 2 (1,522mph) max (effects; wind compression, wall running, water running, sonic boom)

5th attack technique – Vortex. This ability allows the player to select a single target, running at high speed around it, causing a funnel of air that spins and lifts the target in the air. The effect drains the targets endurance and causes heavy stun. Increasing your strength, increases the height the target is raised, causing some drop damage, increase the endurance drain of the target, and the intensity of the stun.

6th attack technique – Cyclone. This ability allows the player to run at high speed in the middle of a group of targets, creating a massive cyclone that sucks in all the surrounding targets into the air and violently scattering them in all directions, causing damage and stun to all targets. Increasing your strength, increases the distance of the knockback and the intensity of the damage and stun.

Support technique – Speed mirage. This ability allows the player to create temporary light-decoys of himself, causing a single or multiple targets to focus on the decoy instead of the player.

Super Speed

Cosmic

Near Light Speed (186,000mhp) max (effects; light streaking, instant travel, phasing)

Cosmic speed incorporates all the other attack and support techniques maxed out, but can also include fantastic techniques such as:

Air running – This ability allows the player to create enough force underfoot that they are able to run at a 45% angle into the air and maintain altitude and speed for the duration of their run.

Speed bolt – This ability allows the player to whip their arms to build up enough charge to throw a powerful bolt of energy at a target.

Time in a bottle – This ability allows the player to create a field that moves everyone within it back ten seconds in time. This technique can only be used once per hour of game play for the duration of your comic abilities.

Teleportation

Teleportation has two version “blind” and “L.o.S” (line of Sight). The distance a player can teleport within sight will always be further than he can blind. Within an instance, blind teleportation will only work if there is sufficient open space at the destination for the player.

TELEPORTATION

Hero

300ft (LoS), 50ft (blind) max (effects; spacial distortion, wind compression)

1st attack technique – Telepunch. This ability allow the player to teleport to, strike, and teleport away from a target. Increasing your strength, increases the damage of the attack and may cause the target to be stunned.

2nd attack technique – Multipunch. This ability allows the player to teleport and strike multiple targets in rapid secession. Each target receives damage and becomes disoriented, lowering their accuracy. Increasing your strength, increases the damage and disorientation, but reduces the number of targets effected.

Support technique – Telescape. This ability allows the player to teleport an injured teammate out of the battlefield. If this technique is used on an enemy, the target flung violently at the distant end causing damage and stun.

TELEPORTATION

Super Hero

1000ft (LoS), 300ft (blind) max (effects; spacial distortion, wind compression)

3rd attack technique – Telebomb. This ability allows the player to grab a single target and hold them in a state between source and destination. Holding the target in transit builds their kinetic momentum and once the destination port is opened, the energy explodes out on all directions. The force knocks down any target in the immediate area. The teleported enemy is immediately incapacitated and all targets around destination are knocked down receiving damage and stun. Increasing your strength, increases the kinetic momentum, increasing the damage and stun to all targets, but reducing the number of targets effected.

4th attack technique – Scrambler. This ability allows the player to teleport, grab, and throw multiple targets in random directions. The grabbed targets can be used as projectiles to knock over other enemies, increasing the number of targets damaged and stunned. Increasing your strength, increases the direct and indirect damage and stun, but reduces the number of targets effected.

Support technique – Teleshield. This ability allows the player to create a bridge between the front and back of you and your teammates that teleports all incoming fire directly behind you. Increasing your strength, increases the size of the bridge, allowing you to protect more of your teammates, but reduces the duration of the effect.

TELEPORTATION

Paragon

3/4 mile (LoS), 1000ft (blind) max (effects; spacial distortion, wind compression)

5th attack technique – Terminal Fall. This ability allows the player to open a continuous teleportation loop above and below a target. The target begins to fall at an ever increasing speed until it reaches terminal velocity. Once maximum speed is reached, the bottom is closed and the target is slammed into the ground at reentry speed, defeating most targets instantly. By increasing your strength, you reduce the time to terminal velocity.

6th attack technique – The kitchen sink. This ability allows the player collect random objects and teleport them at a target at high velocity. The larger or more powerful the target, the larger the object flung at it. By increasing your strength you can increase the force applied to the projectile, but is inverse to the mass of the object.

Support technique – Doorman. This ability allows the player to become a doorway for other players to position themselves anywhere on the battlefield. The player becomes a black silhouette where other players can pass through, select their destination, and instantly teleport there.

TELEPORTATION

Cosmic

Anywhere (LoS), Anywhere (blind) max (effects; spacial distortion, wind compression)

Cosmic Teleportation incorporates all the other teleportation techniques maxed out, but can also include fantastic techniques such as:

Teleclone – Similar to Speed Mirage, this ability allows the player to teleport so fast that you create multiple instances of yourself in time. Unlike Speed Mirage, your duplicates have the same non-cosmic powers as you, making you a one-man-army for a short time.

Untouchable – Your awareness is so keen that you instantly teleport away from any incoming danger, making you untouchable to anyone or anything.

Port to Destruction – Your cosmic awareness allows you to know exactly where to teleport an enemy to defeat them. Whether the bottom of the ocean, in space, or in an active volcano, you can teleport them anywhere for instant defeat. This technique can only be used once an hour of game time for the duration of your cosmic abilities

Flight

This version of flight has a speed and altitude dynamic that differentiates the players’ different levels. It takes a more powerful character to operate 30,000ft than it does to operate at 3000ft.

Flight

Hero

50% Speed of Sound (383mph), Alt (12,000ft) max (effects; wind compression)

1st attack technique – Pull-uppercut. This ability allows the player to launch themselves at a target and pulling up into a massive uppercut. Depending on the weight of the target, the force of the blow will knock the target off their feet. The target receives damage, knockback, and stun. Increasing your strength, increases the amount of damage, knockback, and stun.

2nd attack technique – Thrust. This ability allows the player to fly at full speed at a single target or group of targets, causing them to be knocked away violently in all directions. All targets receive damage and knockback. Increasing your strength, increases the damage and knockback to the target, but reduces the number of targets effected.

Support technique – Airlift. This ability allow the player to take up to two injured teammates rapidly off of the battlefield.

Flight

Super Hero

110% Speed of Sound (843mph), Alt (25,000ft) max (effects; wind compression, sonic boom)

3rd attack technique – Thunder punch. This ability allows the player to launch themselves at a target at maximum speed, creating a sonic boom impacting the target. The force not only knocks the target back, receiving massive damage, but also knocks down any surrounding targets, receiving secondary damage. Increasing your strength, increases the knock back, and damage to all targets, but reduces the number of secondary targets.

4th attack technique – Blackout. This ability allows the player to grab a single target and move them to Mach 1 in the blink of an eye. The shock incapacitates most targets, leaving more powerful target temporarily stunned. Increasing your strength, increases the amount of weight that can be carried and the duration of the stun.

Support technique – Dustup. This ability allows the player to fly low and fast around a group of targets, whipping up a cloud of dust blinding the targets, reducing their accuracy.

Flight

Paragon

Mach 2 (1,522mph), Alt LEO (Low Earth Orbit) max (effects; wind compression, sonic boom, reentry heating)

5th attack technique – Whirling Dervish. This ability allows the player to become a human top, moving at faster than the speed of sound. The player bounces from one target to the next, drawing them in and flinging them randomly around the battle field. Impacted targets are knocked back, receive damage, and a heavy stun. Increasing you strength, increases the knockback distance, damage, and stun, but reduces the duration of your spin.

6th attach technique – Orbit-to-inch punch. This ability allows the player to launch themselves to LEO, turn, and reenter at maximum speed. The buildup of force and heat is focused into a single punch that stops an inch above the ground. Any targets in the area are immediately blown away violently, receive significant damage, and fire damage-over-time. Increasing your damage increases the knockback and damage to all targets, but reduces the number of targets effected.

Support technique – West-Port. This ability allows the player to take a teammate and move them out of sync with the planets rotation. This ability moves both the player and teammate in a westerly direction so fast that it appears they are teleporting.

Flight

Cosmic

50% Light Speed (93,000mhp), Alt Extra-orbital (1AU) max (effects, wind compression, light streaking, sonic boom, reentry heating)

Cosmic Flight incorporates all the other Flight techniques maxed out, but can also include fantastic techniques such as:

Solar Solution – This ability allows the player to take a single target at max speed and deposit them in the sun. Most targets are instantly defeated. This technique can only be used once per hour of game time for the duration of your cosmic abilities.

Hyperspace – This ability allows the player to open a hyperspace portal to fly faster than light to any zone on any planet nearly instantaneously.

“Lois” Launch – This ability allows the player to launch themselves into LEO at max speed, enter hyperspace, and fly around the planet opposite its rotation. This allows the player to go backwards in time by ten seconds. This technique can only be used once per hour of game play for the duration of your comic abilities.

Super Jump

Super Jump

Hero

Leaping 75ft (vertical) 225ft (horizontal) max (effects; wind compression, ground shake (weight-based))

1st attack technique – Vector. This ability allows the player to select a single target, leap at that target and bounce them violently in the opposite direction. The target is damaged and temporarily stunned.

Increasing your strength, increases the damage and intensity of the stun.

2nd attack technique – Ricochet. This ability allows the player to bounce off of multiple targets in rapid secession knocking them all back in the opposite direction. All targets receive damage and stun. Increasing your strength increases the amount of damage and stun to each targets, but reduces the number of targets.

Support technique – Bounce out. This ability allows the player to take a single injured teammate and jump them out of the battlefield. If used on an enemy, the target is dropped before landing, causing them to bounce off the ground. The target receives damage and a temporary stun.

Super Jump

Super-Hero

Leaping 200ft (vertical) 600ft (horizontal) max (effects; wind compression, ground shake (weight-based))

3rd attack technique – Thumper. This ability allows the player to tap their foot with such power and speed that it sends a wave at a single target, causing them to stumble and become disoriented. The target receives a minor DoT and knockdown. Increasing your strength, increases the DoT (damage over time) and the frequency of knockdown.

4th attack technique – Rumble. This ability allows the player to rapidly march in place, sending a wave out in all directions. This wave knocks down and damages all targets in a large radius around the player. Increasing your strength, increases the DoT and knockdown to all targets, but reduces the number of targets effected.

Support technique – FTBB (Follow the Bouncing Ball). This ability allows the player to bounce from place to place in the battlefield drawing the enemy’s attention to them and away from your teammates. The longer the technique is active the more aggravated the enemy will become, and will even attempt to chase the player.

Super Jump

Paragon

Leaping ¼ mile (vertical) ¾ mile (horizontal) max (effects; wind compression, ground shake (weight-based))

5th attack technique – Fault line. This ability allows the player to slam their foot to the ground with such force as to crack the earth in a single direction. Any targets in the path of the fault are knocked back violently, taking significant damage. Increasing your damage increases the knockback distance and damage, but reduces the number of effected targets.

6th attack technique – Tectonic. This ability allows the player to leap a short distance into the air, slamming back down to the ground with such force as to shatter the ground in all directions from the player. Any effected targets are flung straight up and back down violently, causing massive damage. Increasing your damage increases the knock-up distance and damage, but reduces the number of effected targets.

Support technique – Springboard. This ability allows the player to act as a launch point for teammates to leap at ½ the max height and distance of the player.

Super Jump

Cosmic

Leaping LEO (Low Earth Orbit) max (effects; wind compression, reentry heating, ground shake (weight-based))

Cosmic leaping incorporates all the other leaping techniques maxed out, but can also include fantastic techniques such as:

Orbital leap – This ability allows the player to leap from one game city to another by jumping into orbit. You can cover any distance in a matter of moments.

Meteor slam – This ability allows the player to leap into orbit above a target and reenter with the speed and force of a meteor. The force and damage is so great, it is felt throughout the entire zone. This technique can only be used once an hour of game time for the duration of your cosmic abilities

Vacuum to space – This ability allows the player to generate such vacuum force in a single leap that all targets and any unsecured objects are sucked behind the player into orbit. Any enemies drawn up with the player are instantly defeated. This technique can only be used once an hour of game time for the duration of your cosmic abilities.
